Deane and Norm's Motorcycle Trip to Labrador

July 1 - Danville, VA - VIR - Concord, NC - 145 Miles

Today was the big race day, with the finals of the more popular classes of motorcycles.  We had a good time watching them all, and walked around the whole race track (behind the fence) to view the races from different corners of the track.  We stayed until a short but moderately heavy rain shower stopped the last of the races.

After the races, we rode the 140 miles to Concord, NC (near Charlotte), to visit Norm's daughter, Cathy, and her family.  We should be well known in North Carolina by now, with the several times we have criss-crossed that state.

We spent a nice evening with Cathy, David her husband, and their three kids, Josiah (9), Emily (7), and Nathaniel (3).  The kids were all excited to see their "Grampa" Norm, and his riding partner, Deane.  They really kept us busy with games, while David and Cathy fixed dinner for all.  Of course, Deane is a grandfather too, and loves little kids, so he had as good a time as Norm with the kids.  The little kids were delightful, with each having their special games for their ages.  Bedtime found us tired, however, ending a fun day.
